Saima Sultana. Born in a Muslim aristocratic family on July 19, 1969 in Dhaka. She is the daughter of Mohammed Ishaque and Jahanara Begum. She completed her SSC in 1985 from Motijheel Model High School, Dhaka and HSC in 1987 from Brahmanbaria Women’s College, Comilla. She completed her B.Pharm and M. Pharm courses from Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka in the year of 1990 and 1991 respectively with an excellent academic background.She completed her internship training at Pfizer (Bangladesh) Limited. She took her MBA (Marketing) degree from University of Dhaka in 2008.
She Worked as a pharmacist holding the position of Sr. Quality Assurance Officer at Novartis (Bangladesh) Limited for a period of more than four years from October 1994 to January 1999. She started her journey in Beximco Pharma from November 2000. Presently she is working at Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited as Deputy Training Manager.
She is trained in many important fields, which are so much necessary for a leading pharmacy professional like her. She is trained in Time Management; Teambuilding and Leadership; Lead Auditor Training Course ISO 9001:2000, conducted by CMC International (UK) Ltd.; Learning & Implementation Techniques for GMP Trainers, conducted by Asia Pacific Consultants Pty Ltd. Australia; Pharmaceutical Marketing, organized by Bangladesh Drugs Manufacturing Society; Quality Assurance and Quality Control of Pharmaceutical Product arranged by World Health Organization (WHO).
Saima Sultana has a strong and self motivated personality. She believes managerial capacity can be achieved by mainly two ways i.e. the knowledge through proper education and working experience in the specific field and both of which are present in her.

PM: Would you please let us know about Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd.?
SS: Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd (BPL) is a leading manufacturer of pharmaceutical formulations and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) in Bangladesh. The company is the largest exporter of pharmaceuticals in the country and its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities are certified by global regulatory bodies of Australia, Gulf nations, Brazil, among others. The company is consistently building upon its portfolio and currently producing more than 400 products in different dosage forms covering broader therapeutic categories which include antibiotics, antihypertensives, antidiabetics, antireretrovirals, anti asthma inhalers etc, among many others
PM: What kind of training facilities does your company provide?
SS: We have both internal and external training facilities.
PM: How are the training programs conducted?
SS: Training program is conducted by analyzing training needs. We have different methodologies depending on the level of employee, eg, Lecture, Interactive learning, audiovisual techniques. Different types of trainings are provided here. Classroom training, On the job Training etc.
PM: For your training program, what kind of pre knowledge is needed?
SS: Thorough knowledge of GMP, good communication ability, knowledge and skill to train the trainers, knowledge to create and develop training modules.
PM: Is the training facility provided only for the staffs of your company, or others also?
SS: Our training facilities are provided for all types of company employees only.
PM: How much necessary is the MBA course for a pharmacist?
SS: MBA is the combination of different fields of knowledge. To understand the whole cycle of business, MBA is helpful for pharmacist.
PM: Please give some valuable advice for the fresh pharmacists.
SS: I would suggest the fresh pharmacists staying sharp and focused on new technologies. They need to get themselves meticulous, updated and adjusted with the changed environment. As market appears to be very competitive now a days, there’s hardly any alternative to dynamism. They are to learn to be proactive to other team players as well.
